About the Facility:

Located basically right in the middle between Syracuse and Buffalo, there is a peaceful, quiet, private facility home to 16 stall luxury equine accommodations and a paradise for their humans. A 15 head mix between retirees, international quality show hunters and jumpers, and a couple roping and reined cow horses this facility is a wide mix of specialites. The two owners of these horses don't have clients or boarders, this is a seven-year-old private high-class facility in a highly desirable area. A private home on-site awaits the new member for the team. Additionally, a small herd of cattle, a donkey, and a mini call this dream farm home. 

Job Description: 

We are searching for a dynamic, flexible, respectful barn manager to take over the farm operations and give the owners more opportunities to enjoy their horses. Being a boots-on-the-ground, involved, manager is very important to this role as the staff really wants a management team that respects and works alongside them. day-to-day care of the farm, top care of all the horses ranging in age from youngsters to 33 years old, and coordinating with the property manager are essential duties to this role. Operations management tasks will also be the responsibility of this person including but not limited to: feed ordering, nutrition management, farrier and vet scheduling, medication management and scheduling, equine and livestock first-aid and emergent care, and 6 employee scheduling and management. Potential to ride either English, Western, or both, if riding skill is advanced enough for the caliber of horses on property. Being extremely experienced in at least one of the following disciplines is key to success in this role: Ranch Work(Reined Cow Horse, Working Ranch, Roping, Team Roping) or Hunter/Jumper/Equitation. You will be assisting with getting horses ready for rides. This role does not require facility maintenance, as you will be working alongside the property manager(No mowing, fences, plowing, weeding or arena care). There is NO travel with this role. It is year round at the farm in NY. 

Job Duties:
- Daily Care of 15-16 Horses and Livestock
- Management and involvement with 4-6 staff duties
- Be a team player!
- Extreme attention to detail, mature, respectful, and professional at all times. 
- Manage medication, nutrition, and practitioners for all animals on property
- Experience with Aged, Medically - Needy Retirees. 
- Watchful eye to spot problems
- Collaborate with Property Manager to plan mowing and facility repairs as needed
- Potential to Ride! 
- Assist with packing and unpacking from shows and events

Job Requirements

Job Requirements:
- Advanced Equine and Livestock Medical Knowledge and be able to Quickly Identify Problems
- IM/IV medications
- Experience managing an Advanced Medication Schedule(Adequan, Pergolide, Banamine, Regu-mate, among others)
- Nutritional Knowledge
- Hay, Feed, Bedding Ordering
- Maintaining Vet and Farrier Schedules
- Equine First Aid and Emergent Response Experience
- Basic Farm Equipment Usage (Gator, 4x4, blowers, simple yard tools, pressure washers, etc.)
- Advanced Western and/or English Discipline Understanding

Additional Skills but Not Required:
- Drive Truck and Trailer
- Bilingual
- Hiring/Termination of Staff
- Heavy Equipment Experience (Tractors, Bushhogs, Snow Plow, etc.)
- Ability to Hack or Jog Horses to Maintain Fitness
- Experience with Cattle/Working Cattle

- $50,000 - 60,000 Salary
