About the Facility:
Ocala, FL Is known for it's truly massive farms and this beauty is no exception. At 100 acres this AQHA, Hunter Under Saddle and Western Futurity focused operation, breeds, foals, shows, and sells some nationally talented Quarter Horses. Dotted with beautiful oaks and kind pleasant horses this would be a joyful farm to work at each day. The owners take immense passion in their breeding and young horse development, but are very successful in the show ring too. They are looking to add a team member they can count on, even when they are away at shows. 6 Months out of the year, their nationally acclaimed trainer relocates their showing string of 25 horses to the property from WI for the season. The trainer works alongside the owners, and clients that use portions of the farm.
Job Description:
We are searching for a versatile Maintenance Professional or Property Manager to take the lead of this 100 acre facility with 50-75 horses on it per year. Being able to work seamlessly with owners, clients, and trainers is paramount to your success in this position. A collaborative approach to managing the properties' multiple spaces alongside the team in place is extremely important. Being able to install and repair fence, work on small engines, and use heavy equipment when needed are the main duties of this role. Additionally, being able to participate in the equine activities from breeding, to stallion management, foaling out, broodmare care, medications, emergent care, and assisting the trainer with the show string would be a benefit to the farm. This could be entry level equine maintenance or it could be a full time salaried management role!
Boots on the ground and equine experience is important but we will consider anyone, with pretty much any experience!
Job Duties:
- Mow, Weedeat, Bushhog, Drag Rings, Maintain Pastures and Green Spaces
- Fence Installation and Repair
- Oak Tree Management
- Small Machine Engine Maintenance
- Manage and Develop Current Staff (Non English Speaking)
- Maintain Records and Logs for all Property Maintenance and Expenses
- Ability to Use Heavy Equipment
- Assist with Mares, Foals, Foaling Out, Night Watch
- Assist with Medications, Equine Management, and Show Trainer's Equines
- Assist and Participate in Emergency Care, including Driving Truck and Trailer
- Liaison with Clients, Trainers, and Guests
