About the Facility
This small, private farm Citra, Florida is home to 4 horses, 2 dogs, and an exceptional human who is looking for an extra set of hands to juggle her corporate career with her equestrian passion! This laidback, low-key atmosphere is perfect for a knowledgeable individual looking to pick up a few extra hours during the week! With only 2 of the 4 horses spending any considerable time stalled, the labor load stays light with minimal stall cleaning. All basic facility work (mowing, weed eating, etc) and any major facility projects/storm cleanup is outsourced accordingly!
Job Description
We are looking for a conscientious and experienced individual to devote roughly 10 hours per week spread across 2-3 days to the care of this lovely, private farm. With the owner of this facility traveling regularly for work, the ideal individual will also be comfortable farm sitting roughly 1 week per month with overnight stays on-site. On a typical work day, tasks consist of basic horse care, dragging of pastures, and light pampering of the two retired horses who live out full-time. When the owner is traveling, work would consist of 2 feedings instead of 1, and general oversight to ensure all members of the 4 legged family have all body parts accounted for!
*This individual will ideally be able to start on or before November 1st, 2024*
Job Duties (2-3 days per week) - Ideally Morning hours, every other day
- Feed horses
- Assist owner with riding/care of 2 horses in work
- Clean stalls of horses in-work (2 stalls)
- Bring in outside horses for a bath and doctoring of any scrapes or bumps
- Drag pastures while horses are inside
- Occasional other small tasks as desired & needed
Job Duties (When Owner Traveling)
- Same as above, but feeding AM/PM + afternoon check-in on horses & dogs (if away from farm during day)
- Staying on-site overnight
- Care for 2 small dogs in house
- Monitor all animals for any signs of illness/emergency & communicate as necessary
**Owner travels roughly 0-2 weeks per month. Most months it is 1 week, some months may be 2, some may be 0**
