About the Facility
This small and high quality Show Jumping operation splits its time between North-Central VA and Ocala, FL with the usual summer show schedule taking them to Tryon, Upperville, Lexington, and Sugerties. From December-March the farm comes to Ocala, FL and rents an entire private stable with show stalls at both HITS and WEC for the season. This program is typically home to 6-9 competition horses ranging from greenbeans to budding FEI horses, with two currently competing in the GPs. With a hands-on young owner/trainer, a supportive family, a rockstar Working Student, and and two full-time grooms the workload stays manageable and when the work is done for the day, so is the team! There are private accommodations at both the VA and Ocala farm, with a private room being provided at ALL shows, along with a food stipend.
Job Description
We are looking for a positive and passionate Professional Groom for this up-and-coming Show Jumping program! This person will be responsible for all the standard responsibilities including feeding, cleaning stalls, grooming, tacking, clipping, maintaining facility cleanliness, and traveling to shows. With 9 horses and 4 sets of hands on deck to care for them, the workload stays light and manageable even on show days! There is one client who owns horses for the head trainer, and occasionally riders may haul-in for lessons, but this is largely a private operation with minimal outside foot traffic. This facility primarily focuses on the training, competition, and sales of young Show Jumpers, but does occasionally accept a Hunter/Eq sales horse - and in those instances a braider will be hired at shows.
Home hours are roughly 7:30-3:30 with riding finishing around 12-1pm and night check around 8pm
Show hours are usually condensed as most horses are competing in the same classes - with the exception of an occasional evening GP
