This scenic academic program in the Washington DC area is gearing up for an exciting new expansion! A brand new equestrian center is in the works, with all the bells and whistles to make a horse girl's dreams come true. The new facility will feature a 200x100 indoor arena, two outdoor arenas, 10 oversize paddocks, and an extensive trail system through the surrounding woods. The barn features 36 stalls, 2 climate controlled tack rooms, on-site housing for staff, 8 grooming/wash stalls, an on-site classroom, and a horse treadmill, with thoughtful & efficient design at the forefront of the planning. 

Job Description
We are looking for a passionate and well-educated Riding Instructor to join the team! This person will be responsible for teaching students both in and out of the saddle, and will also act as the interim barn manager during the current manager's 2 days off per week. This program teaches using the American System of Forward Riding from beginner riders through experienced competitors. The horsemanship education will consist of grooming, first aide, rehab work, fitness planning, competition prep, and more. This individual must be excited about the prospect of nurturing the future generation of equestrians in a safe, positive, and inclusive environment. 

Job Duties 
- Teaching beginner through advanced lessons in a group setting both in and out of the saddle
- Coaching students at IEA, USEF, and local schooling shows in the H/J disciplines
- Packing and prepping horses for shows (mane pulling, lunging, clipping, etc)  
- Organizing logistics for shows (entries, hotels, transport, scheduling, etc)
- Riding horses for fitness, rehab needs, and training - both school-owned and student-owned
- Assisting with the Summer riding camp as needed
- Assisting with stable duties in the event of barn staff shortages (stall cleaning, turnout, blanketing, etc)
- Performing as Stable Manager 2 days per week to cover days off (feeding, meds, treadmill/Bemer use, first aide, etc)
- Additional tasks as operation of a high-end equestrian program dictate

- Bachelor's Degree Required
- Minimum 3 years experience working as a professional Instructor or Trainer in the H/J disciplines
- Proven ability to coach group lessons at home and in competition
- Experience showing on the both the local and A Circuits
- MUST be able to haul horses to/from events
- Willing and able to work weekends, holidays, and evenings when required
- Exceptional communication skills with both students and coworkers
- Able to travel to competitions away from home as needed
- Patient and open minded with education of youth in a boarding school capacity
